Bike is a new to me 2004. Was working fine until this morning. Any suggestions? Any way to lower it manually? Any help appreciated.

Thank you,
Steve

There are two limit switches under that black plastic (cowl) panel sitting under the windshield. You could take a look at those.

If you haven't yet, pick up a manual if you planning on doing most of your own work.

There's a number of unique components e.g. relays that could be giving you grief, but I'd start with the simple stuff, apply contact cleaner to the bar switch contacts, then work down the various plug connectors and makes sure they are clean/corrosion-free.

The manual doesn't show a method for manually adjusting the screen, but does show a way to change the position of the screen relative to the actuated rails.

Is it making any noise when you press the down button? IF it is, stop trying to lower it until you open it up and look at the cable assy. The cable is coated with plastic and the gap between the plastic and the gear that moves the cable is a bit sloppy.

And BTW, those two relays are identical. So to test them just swap them and see if it now goes down, but not up!

Great info guys, thank you. Should have a chance to look at it tomorrow. There is no noise when pushing the down button.

Bit of a long day yesterday but it's fixed. The down wire was broken behind the left side fairings. Thank you everyone.
