I just brought home a new VFR1200X. This is after 12 years on a 2004 ST1300 (95,000 miles). So far I have 2,000 miles on the 1200.

I can tell you that the VFR is not as smooth below 3000 rpms as the ST is. Not even close. The 1200 runs a bit lumpy at low rpms. After the tach hits 4000 rpms the VFR is just as smooth and quite a bit faster than the big 13. Fuel mileage is very close. But the VFR only carries 5.6 gallons of fuel. No where near the range of the 13. The VFR is much easier to ride fast through curvy roads. The speedometer on the VFR is within 1mph of my Garmin. Very accurate! The other big plus is the complete lack of engine heat on the rider.

Do I like it as much as the ST?? Not yet. But it is growing on me. I will not be selling my ST until I am sure that I can live with this bike. It IS VERY DIFFERENT.:D

Yes Sir Dave....did you opt for the manual or the DCT...??
I did test one....manual....I am definitely on the +++ side of the equation about them.

I did not get the DCT model. I had to order one or the other. Not being sure if I would like the DCT model I ordered the standard 6 speed. I may have went for the DCT if I could have snagged a test ride.
