Changer... Tire Changer

$65 out of pocket. You are only about $20 short of buying the HF unit.

When I added up the amount of money I would spend for mounting up my (only have one) bike tires and the trailer tires. Maybe do my own car tires in the future... A HF tire changer quickly paid for itself.

You have to remember that the $5 disposal fee is mandatory and close to 10% of that total was WA STate sales tax. Plus they use a technical balancer that I will never own. I don't and won't use balance beads.

It's worth it to me for the time and effort, plus if the tire or mounting is bad for any reason......I can chew on them to fix it. In my younger days when $ were tight I was up for spending lots of time to save a couple bucks. Now time is my most valuable resource.

Thanks for all the good ideas on tpms....

Here it is two years later. And that tire is now shot. Not as many miles as last tire....but all of the wear was on dry pavement and the last 1300 miles was fresh chip seal and chasing MVDave around WeSToc last week.
Only got @7500 miles from that tire. But it was well worth it.....and the front was shot too. So two brand new RP4 GT for Darth......

If I make it to STOCtoberfest, can you show me how to polish like you did while I watch intently from a perch with beverage in hand? The entire bike I mean. Looks really good Todd!

I just put a new PR4GT on the rear of my R1200RS yesterday. I hope I can get that kind of mileage out of it. My right hand has the same problem yours does. But the RS has a lot more power than our ST’s have. Taking it to ArkanSTOC next week. You need to ride this bike Todd!

I’m headed to the BRG this year. But I sure hope to make it back your way again. I enjoyed the hospitality and the company way too much last year!
You know if you make out this way, my door is open. The view and roads suck around here. But Arkansas is only a few hours away. You would love the riding there I promise!

Well, I ordered more farkels for STacy in trying to keep up with the Todd's. I realized at WeSTOC that I NEEDED knee pads on top of my wind deflectors. I will have that required farkels by STOC-oberfest. Having a tough time finding the main tank pad. Since it HAS to say 'Honda', a universal tank pad won't do, won't do at all...

Moly is for girls that don't ride bikes. Up here where men are men, we use bear grease, after we wrestle them and take them out, we render the fat to lard and use it for bearings and splines. I have also tried it for hair tonic but...

That......yep and a little nose grease.....and hock a loogie on it for good measure....

Seriously....I have had good luck with frequent cleaning and a good wheel bearing grease. Nothing replaces frequent inspection.... cleaning...and relube.....

I have never used them.....so just unfamiliar I guess. Yes I've seen the video.......still baffles me...
That bottle video doesn't really do much for me, but I tried them a few years ago. My tires now wear more evenly with beads, as compared to weights, especially the front, i.e. almost no cupping.

The bottle proves their worth to me. I just am not sold on the cleanup or potential mess between tire changes. But that may be a result of my unfamiliarity of the product.

Somebody mentioned they don't play well with gummy worms. As I goop them up and don't rely on their natural state the potential imbalance could be worse. I'm unaware of the negatives so I haven't tried them. Yet anyway.

I see no mess. When they come out during a tire change, the beads are undamaged, and there's very little, if any rubber debris. When I change tires, I scavenge all the old beads I can and reuse them. Actually, my tire guy scavenges and reuses them for me. I just take my wheel off and give it to him. FWIW, I use Counteract beads.

Ahh. The look, feel, smell of a brand new tire........:)

_20160811_085642.jpg. Install today and break it in. Want to thank Westside Motorsports and their new service manager for the great price and instant mounting they did for me. Living an hour away and on a tight "go to town for everything day", they mounted it while I waited. $185 plus mount and disposal came to just under $240.
and there's the reason I change my tires. 30 minutes later and the cost of the tire only, I'm ready to ride.

Just on 15,000km on this PR4.

Had a 5,000km round trip from home (St Helena VIC) to SEQ (South East Queensland) last October on way to the 2017 OzSTOC National Rally at Wooli NSW, 300km from home, thought I better change it, could only get a Dunlop Roadsmart.

Dunlop has now done 6,000km, don't think it will get to 10,000km.

Front PR4 was changed at 20,000km.
