I joined the forum yesterday, looking for advice on pricing for a used ST1300. Last night I found a lightly-used 2012 with only 1,045 miles on it, made the deal (around mid-night) and just returned from a 740 mile round trip with my new ride. It would've been nice to have ridden it home (instead of trailering) but the location was 100 miles from a major airport and the temperature was 104 degrees (113 heat index).

It's 100% stock and still has almost 2 years remaining on the 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.

The previous owner was a cruiser-guy that was a little inseam impaired (5'-6") and bought the ST on a whim. Needless to say, it didn't fit him or his riding style. I'm really surprised that he never dropped it.

Let the farkling begin!:D:D:D

Congratulations!

You may want to check the torque of the handlebar mounting bolts after towing it like that for 740 miles. If you ever again need to tie down your bike, remove the tip-over covers and use the tip-over bars as tie-down points. The handlebars are not designed for that kind of stress.

Have fun farkling.

You may already know this but just in case: The handlebars are rubber mounted so even when properly torqued there will be some wiggle in them. It's designed in to help reduce vibration. Just in case you didn't know.

Normally, I just call the LEO's if I see an ST on a trailer....but I'll over look it this time....

Congrats on your new ride! May you ride it safe and long.

Don't pay any attention to those that think trailering a ST1300 is in violation of some sort of code or something... I've trailered my ST1300s a number of times over the last 10.5 years and still managed to put on over 280,000 miles riding them during that time! :D

I can trailer mine anytime I want and NOT feel guilty!
When ACL bought the Dodge truck in AZ and got caught in a pic with it in the back of the truck I told him " You know Terry you could of towed the truck back with the ST". LOL

Ah, but I have a different problem. Chris won't ride THAT far on the bike, so if I want to take it with us to some (far off) location, it gets the trailer... or I hear ".. you plan all your trips around that #### motorcycle and not me...":
