I have been running PR4's for the last couple of years (5 sets) but have been disappointed with the longevity and wear patterns. I get 8-10,000 kms (5-6,000 miles) out of the rears and about 12,000 (7500 miles) from the fronts. The fronts seem to square off, starting at about half worn, and continue to deteriorate handling wise from there. Up to that point, the handling is great. I think there has to be a better solution for ME and MY riding. To that end, I thought I would try the new Metzler Roadtec 01's. (after reading about them in comparison tests). Problem is that they do not come in ST1300 sizing so I put a Roatec Z8 on the front and a 180/55 01 HWM on the back.

I just took them off. 10,000 kms on the Z8 front and 8,000 on the 01 rear. All one up. Front had about 25% left and rear about 30% but I am leaving on a 4,000 km trip and didn't want to be worried about tires. Overall impression of the above combination........nothing that would make we want to put another set on. Overall the bike felt "heavy". Granted, neither tire was meant for the ST1300.

Next up is a set of Pirelli Angel GT's. We will see how these work.
