Has anyone devised a method of using spacers to bump out the bottom of the windshield an inch or so on an ST1100?

I have not nor do I know of anyone that has. May I ask what are you trying to accomplish?

Obviously you would need longer screws and plastic spacers (probably Home Depot or Lowes would have them). My concern would be that the extra 'leverage' might pull the rubber wellnuts out or crack the garnish and/or bodywork. MadStad Engineering made an 'adjustable' windshield for me. I don't know if they still do or not -

I bought a Rifle windshield insert for the Connie. Check that out. Easy install. Even came with a special drill bit just for plastic.
Rifle used to make windshields for the ST1100. I had one for a while until I broke it. I don't know if they still do or not. Other options are the Laminar Lip if turbulence is the problem.

I'm going for the Madstad effect. It is a pretty common mod for the 1300. Madstad won't make one for the 1100, and I can't find a used one. I tried longer screws and washers and couldn't get it to line up.

Yea. You're making the windshield radius larger by moving it out but you're not moving the windshield holes to compensate.

That explains it. The fix would be to secure the top 2 screws and the center bottom screw. Line up the spacer with the well nut mark the appropriate spot that lines up with a Sharpie, and drill a new hole.

You could snug it down some, but since the angle of the windshield would no longer match the angle of the screw, you couldn't torque it down.

Some sort of thick rubber washer or half washer may work. Anyone have any other ideas to let you snug it down?

I think we're close!

Do you mean something like this? Nothing like an original screen, but that's how I did mine. Rubber tap washers are good.......

UP....I bought a Laminar Lip for the Connie, because of turbulence. It worked for that problem. However, I now have a very high pitched noise as a result. I'm not sure if it worth it.
