Is there a 10,000 mile tire to be had anywhere anymore?

So I'm not rich enough to buy more than one set of tires for my 10'000 mile riding season in Maine and I know my tire is out there but where? I recently gave up my HD Superglide Sport for a 1995 ST 11, a model that I have wanted for over 20 years. On the Harley I ran Metzler 880's that got 6,000 mile life and then found the 888's that wore out at 11,000. When I purchased the ST It had a Shinko Tourmaster on front with approximately 3,000 miles and a crap tire on rear that I replaced with a Metzler Z6. After 5,000 miles the Shinko wore out and the Z6 looks like it only has maybe 1,000 miles left on it. I am an aggressive riding style and always in the twisties. No straight line super slab riding here but I need a tire that will stand up in handling as well as mileage.
Is anyone getting 10,000 or better on rubber and if so on what brand/style?

We may have different roads in Canada, but the last 4 sets of Bridgestone 023GT's were 18,0000 11,000 15,000 and the set I have on now should make it to 13,500 miles. My next set that I'm putting on is the T30 GT's as they don't make the 023GT's anymore.

Tires and oil, our two favorite topics here! ;)

I got the following mileage on my ST1100, beads in both tires...

Front: Bridgestone Exedra 547, front tire: 15k
Front: Bridgestone Battleax BT45H, rear tire (mounted backwards on front): 8k on it now, hardly worn, expect over 20k
Rear: Michelin Commander II, rear tire: 20k

These are all long lasting tires and I think the beads help a lot. Before the above, I also ran a BT-45 and BT-023 and got 13k on those, also with beads.

Avon has a 15,000 mile guarantee on one of their models now. And I believe it include free road hazard warranty as well. If I was shopping the market,, I would have to look into those. Cat'

The only rear I can get any sort of mileage out of is the BT020 Bias designed for the BMW KLT1200 (same size). Any radial I've tried dies well below 8,000 miles - some at less than 5,000 miles - one at less than 2,500 miles. A lot depends on your riding style - throttle handling and braking practices - and the type of pavement you ride on. Some states have much more abrasive pavement than others.

I'm 7,700 miles into a pair of Michelin Pilot Pr3 GTs; think I have at least another 1,500 maybe more on the rear and more than that on front so 10K is possible.

Mostly MD roads and more back roads than slab, but a couple long interstate runs in the mix between here and GA or here and IL.

I am not an aggressive rider and never ride two up. More day riding and short commutes than loaded touring.

Tire pressures closely monitored. Cold pressure never less than 40 and usually 41.5 to 42; running pressure rises to between 46 and 48 usually, depending on weather and where/how I am riding.

I am on my second Michelin Commander II, I got 16K miles on the first down to the wear bars. I am still running the first BT-45 on the front.

Honda spec'd, OEM Bridgestone Exedra G547/G548.
I am on my 16th or 17th rear (10K+). Half that many fronts (20K+).
BeST all around. There are other tires if absolute best mileage is your only criteria. The ME 880 comes to mind. Or the 'dark side' (car tires) for the extreme. Too scary for me. YMMV and probably will.

Um... The OP, Dana, is asking about ST1100 fitment tires. Just say'n...
Yep, noticed that.

Won't talk of the 10k easily achieved on the DS, but the OP did mention Metzler 880. Had them front and rear on my 1300. Good wearing tire, but wet weather... let's say I didn't ride in the rain very much while they were on the bike. But I will regularly ride and not worry of doing rain now that the 880's are gone.

Dark-siding an 1100 is a bit of work, not just changing tars! That said, I have about 18.5 k miles on my DS rear and it looks like a few k left. I'm not nice to tires. I never got more than 8k on a radial (several Avons, 1 PR and 1 Perelli).

Hey Cat, are you trying to tell the OP to take a look at Storms? I don't see the purpose of the table... none of that info has anything to do with real world mileage. Are you trying to say something else with the table data? Confused!

OPs 3rd post; so, he might not know peoples history with the Avon Storms...

Bikes: 2 ST1100s
Avon STorms were great, lots of miles and great handling.
Avon STorms II not so great, Chris and I both had failures at speed.

I do NOT recommend that anyone use Avon tires.

I've never used a tire on my 1100 or 1300 that went less than 10,000 miles. The only exception being a front Dunlop RoadSmart on my 1300 that came apart on me at around 6K (and 75 MPH!). Lots of twisties in SoCal too.
