Ran into a very interesting individual in the middle of nowhere Romney,West Virginia with his own Indian Museum (over 60 vintage motorcycles). I found out about an upcoming event he and his 2 identical twin sons are participating in that I'd never heard of. The most important qualification for this cross country event is your ride has to be OVER a HUNDRED YEARS OLD!

The Cannonball begins in Atlantic City, New Jersey, 10 Sept, and finishes Sept 25 in Carlsbad Ca. I'll be following # 7 Steve Rinker on his 1916 Indian Power Plus, and his twin sons #6 Justin and #37 Jared Rinker, also on 1916 Indian Power Plus.

Steve's ride:

Justin's ride:

Jared's ride:

One of the riders for I think the last three or four Cannonballs is Norm Nelson out of our BMWMOA chapter here. Because of an acquaintance with Norm and the bike owner Jack Wells I heard of the event and went to a send off several years ago.

Way back when... My 750 Duc didn't have a side stand just a center stand. I don't remember if a side stand was even an option. Fortunately the bike was very light.

+1, truly awesome; but something's missing from the picture--me thinks a big box truck full of tools and spare parts. ha ha

I'm gonna head down to the finish for sure and maybe catch them the day before. There is a nice thread on adv with pictures every day from the start. Two of the riders are inmates there. Also Pat Simmons of the Doobie Bros and his wife are in it as well.
