I have PR 4s on now which are worn after almost 13k miles. Looking at tires now I see the pilot road 4 trail which fit but I also see write ups for the pilot road 4 GT. Is there an appreciable difference and if so which is better for all around riding and higher mileage?

The PR4 trails are for adventure type bikes, like vstroms super tenere etc, I'm considering a PR4 trail for the front of my vstrom 650 and a regular PR4 for the rear, supposed to be great wet grip, not mad about the look of them though, too many sipes.

The last time I bought a tire, I asked for PR4. I didn't know that there was a GT and a Trail. They installed the Trail.

I can not tell any difference between the Trail and the GT that I had on there before. Not even in appearance. Maybe it's all just marketing.

IIRC the Trails have a slightly different tread pattern and the rear has a different set of proportions in hard/soft dual compound. You'll probably notice no different.

I think whether you get the trail or the GT depends on the tire size. As far as I know the PR4 that fits the ST in the factory size is/are only available in the GT.

I will stay with the factory size. If that is the GT that's ok. Thanks for the information.

I would stay with the factory size too and I would have preferred the GT, but FWIW, the PR4 Trail is also available in the factory size. It's what's on my bike now.
