Sounds great. Thank you for the info on the construction. At least Rose Eden is before the construction area. So we only need to deal with it if we want to go into town..

For anyone thinking of attending this event... The Arcadia National Park is a fun place to travel too. You can visit Thunder Hole and many more scenic places. Cadillac Mountain is a bikers musty do! You can climb crazy cliffs, on foot of course. Smell the salty air and enjoy the center of the town amenities. There is an amazing Museum featuring turn of the century automobiles and motorcycles, a real treat! The Rose Eden Motel is a great base for us as it features great cottages, an on site Lobster cookery that will deliver your lobster, Steamers and Corn to your door, so cool! Then there is the Winery and tasting room thats only 200 feet away. So, order your meal, visit the winery, buy your wine of choice and have a great dinner.
Canada is a short trip away so, bring our pass port. Many more things to do!

Mt Desert Island is one of my favorite places. Had set out for 2013 NNESTOC, but alternator trouble forced me to turn around in Vermont..major disappointment.
It's on the watch list for this year. Would love to get back there.

This has been on my radar for a while...... it's been a while since the last NNESTOC there.

That weekend is when they hold the Acadia Night Sky Festival. One of the cooler activities is a bus ride up to Cadillac's summit Saturday night (they close the road to private vehicles for this event) and you can look through powerful telescopes at The Milky Way, Andromeda, etc.

I grew up on MDI and live near there now. Expect heavy traffic for that time of year and the bridge and it's approaches will have a lot of construction work being done on them (in millions $). If anyone is driving up the coast on RT 1 let me know and I'll send you directions for a short cut eliminating Ellsworth. You will still have to cross the bridge though.

When you approach Ellsworth from the south on RT 1, you will cross the Union River and come to a stop light. Turn right there (Water ST) and continue on it for about 2 miles where it becomes Bayside. Continue straight for about 5 miles until you reach the Goose Cove Rd on your left. Turn left there and continue straight until it T's. Turn left there on the Oak Point road and continue until you reach the light on the Bar Harbor Road. Turn right then you're on your road.

I the past, you could make good time on the road but traffic and cops have increased somewhat.
