The item for sale is the 1996 Honda ST 1100 - Alternator Assembly OEM. It is in great shape, it functioned properly on the motorcycle it was removed from. This is the Honda original starter.

Glad you were able to get it, didn't think it would last long. I would have snagged it, but I already sent a core in to be rebuilt and ordered the other parts to join the 28A alt.

found an alt 40 amp ebay 155 bucks new.
did i get lucky?

Even if the alternator wasn't new it's still a good find. Surprised it didn't show up on my radar with a filter for 40A alternators when they get posted. SIrepair has a thread on replacing the bearings if some of them are in need once you receive it.
