There is a lot of talk about the ST 1100 being 28 amp Alternator and people upgrading them to 40 amp. How many amps can the ST 1300 handle, particularly the 2004?

a web search brings up 740W and 660W, not sure which is correct or if there was a change at some model year. Using 14V, that's in excess of 50A for the 740W rating, and 47A for the 660W.

Just a note - ST1100s from 96 upward had 40 Amp alternators. Previous year models often have the later model alternators installed in place of the original 28 ampers.

Stuck with the 660 figure, which is still a lot to play with. 740 appeared in a lot of the early marketing material and never got beyond that.

I don't recall ever seeing any marketing materials for the 2003 model, but the owners manual that came with mine lists the charging system spec is 742 Watts.
