+1 On the Sylvania LED's. I've had them in for a couple of years now with no issues.

I have Sylvania LED's in all my markers and turn signals for two years now with no problem on the ST. Started on the wing and have all the rear and trunk lights LED replaced so far.

Hi All,

Not sure if this has been discussed earlier, but does anyone know of the best/ easiest way to access the ST1300 position/ marker lights? I want to swap out the OEM bulbs for LEDs.
Cheers
I installed these about 3 years ago with no issues other than they are about 5 times brighter than stock.

I find it easier to remove the whole upper fairings and access them behind the mirror mounts

Which brand of LED marker bulbs failed on you,, Barry ?? Important to know,, so that others don't buy the same. I am picking up some this weekend,,, that I ordered from Superbrightled's. Thanks,, Cat' (whooho,, 500 posts) !!
I ordered and installed these this spring. One failed within a couple of weeks and the other has started to flicker. I tried using them in my travel trailer, but they started flickering soon after installation. Maybe it's the heat in an enclosed space, as Joe mentioned, but they're not fit for the purposes I tried.

I found the Rubber connectors, & changed both Position bulbs WITHOUT pulling any plastic.
Accessed everything from underneath, & pulled out the bulb/rubber holder assy. with needle nose pliers.
Long arms, and a bright remotely mounted work light are a big help. They ARE well hidden.

Spiderman302 - you're the man! Searched for replacing the position bulb on the ST1300 and found your post. 10 minutes and I was done. Didn't have to remove any plastic. I first looked in the sevice manual and it looked like a big job. Your tip saved me a lot of time. Thank you!

I went with LED's in this style for my position markers:

They mimic the OEM bulb in shape and style and fit thru the hole without issue.

Howdy, Where did you find the LED position marker bulb? Thanks, Mark

Your ST is a beauty. Mine is also silver.
What I meant to ask was where did you purchase the bulbs?
Thanks again. Mark
Yup I misunderstood your question... I just found some st1300 pic on the site to show the location.. looks like the next post covered your question.

I went with ones like these:

I can't find the exact listing for what I bought as it's beyond the history ebay keeps :)

You want something narrow to fit thru the hole from behind. The length doesn't really matter for these. I wanted something that looked like a regular bulb and with the two COB filaments would reflect in the OEM reflector. I also made sure it was the same color temp as the LED headlights and switchback turn signals so everything was similar.

What I'm going to do is also tie in mirror lights with bright LED bulbs for increased visibility:

- ON under normal driving conditions
- flashing when winkers on

As in attached thru the side of the mirrors (like a side marker in the mirror) or so they can be seen from behind?
