You Had Me At High Speed Touring.
Excellent write-up - thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Except for the last bit which is sad but understandable.
Congratulations on being the first MOTM for 2017.
Congrats on MOTM. With the joy that you express riding I encourage you to take the time to recover completely and then reassess. There are lots of flavors of motorcycling, off road, enduro, track, trial riding, etc. I took a break for 27 years and then got in again. Your decision of course, I just encourage you not to close the door completely.

Congratulations on making MOTM! Enjoyed the story of your passion for riding. Hopefully that passion will return when you have healed completely!
I am not young enough to know everything!
You don't have to have the last word to win the argument!
Congrats but maybe think about riding again. I was totaled out three years ago with a year layup but am now back to riding.

The road is not a friendly place, but it is a friend of mine....
Congrats John. Sorry to hear about your deer encounter, I must have missed that thread or forgot. I too had a deer strike a few years ago. It took some time to get over that, so I totally understand your decision.
Once you go Flat you never go back
Staying in your (and your wife's) comfort zone is a smart choice!
If you love your bike, let it go.
If it comes back, you high sided.....
