I hope it goes well and that he breaks the record... he'll at least set a personal best it looks like. It really is about testing one's self, but it's not my cup of tea. I think I'll stick to my longest days being in the 1,200 - 1,400 km range when I need to (750 -875 mile), but if I did a non-stop cross continent run I'd a a slew of old friends and relatives wanting to kick my *** for not stopping to visit lol.
Exactly !!!

They might not put you up the next time you came through....

Good luck on your ride on the 25th.
For us armchair QB's. It would be nice to see a video clip of one lap during the day and one lap during the night posted here.

Just enjoy the ride!

Not me. A guy on a BMW is attempting to ride 2000+ miles in a day on a closed course. I'd like to take a couple hot laps on that course though.

I followed what I could that night, most of their broadcast were down. On his Face Book page he posted unofficially 2,119 miles. I know I got that last number wrong, but it was 2,11? miles. I haven't checked since.

"Unofficial New Guinness World Record for Greatest Distance in 24 hours on a Motorcycle (solo). Total of 2119 odometer miles. We still must download the data from VBox and GPS Insight. Then ship all the evidence to Guinness for approval."

That quote is from his Facebook page, per Runner. Apparently, he still had over an hour of time, but ran out of rubber. Ridding hard... He explains it on a video on his Facebook page.

2111 miles, and he ran out of rubber? I wonder what tires he was running.

Several sets, actually. I think it was mentioned that the track surface is quite abrasive, probably for testing purposes. But yes, it is quite surprising that he ran through what looks like 4 sets of tires in that short a distance. At a Continental track, and most likely running Continental tires. An extreme example of YMMV...
