So, I did some some searching and really didn't find my answer.
Here goes...I'm adding electronics. Specifically, I want a GPS and radar on the bars.... and a power source in the right side front glove box.

I think I need two UBS connector on the dash for the GPS / radar..... and inside the glovebox a 12V plug and a UBS.....

What do you think? Looking for your experience for what I want to power up.

thanks - Rich

You didn't say what bike you have. But for a 1300, Honda makes the quartet harness that (iirc around $17) plugs into the wiring harness on the bike and gives you a low amperage plug for the radio (or as many of us do, a powerlet for usb ports), one for heated grips, and two others. If you want something to power heated clothing, then you need to run a full 15 or 20 amp circuit forward from either the battery or an aux fusebox. There are other threads on this subject - look in Technical > electronics/electrical for more ideas.

Also search for Quartet harness.

Sorry, and it is a 2003 1300....and I meant USB.... (not UBS) ha !. And I do know about the quartet harness which I've already received in the mail. I also have some powerlet hook ups.
I just don't know what type of outlets (usb or 12v socket) for the radar and GPS. And I didn't want to run cords into the right side glove box and loose the water tightness.

Depends on what you want to spend.

You can put a couple of waterproof cigarette outlets in the speaker grills and wire them to an auxiliary fuse box. I used these:
https://www.amazon.ca/Waterproof-Motorcycle-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket/dp/B0144A71BM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487307367&sr=8-3&keywords=waterproof+cigarette+outlet

You could wire in a Powerlet outlet and either wire it direct or to the aux box.

And then power your tank bag with this.

This solves your waterproof problems.

Lots of alternatives. Just depends on how complicated/expensive you want to go.

I don't think you need to put the 12V socket inside the glove box. I mounted mine outside just behind the cover. It has a rubber cover for when it's not in use, but I'm not really worried about water getting in there anyway. Water is not conductive enough at 12 volts to be an issue.

Mine is connected directly to the battery (it is fused) so I can also use it to connect the battery tender which is pretty convenient.

I installed a 12 volt outlet in the right hand pocket because typically the things I plug into it like iPhones, headsets, phone/power bank chargers or USB adapters are not waterproof and need to be protected from rain when riding. I used oversized 12 AWG marine wire to power it, fused at the battery, and use the POS terminal on the back of the outlet as a power distribution point for a horn relay and CVS voltage monitor.

In 11 years I've not yet ran into a situation where having the pocket lid ajar for a cable allowed water ingress as the lid overhangs the opening enough to keep out rain. I hard wired a GPS power source and the heated clothing cable and don't use a radar detector so the one 12 volt outlet has sufficed to date.

Wherever you choose to install the power source take a little time to think about access to it's wiring for fairing panel removal & replacement and fuse access. Make it easy to take apart and replace when you do future maintenance chores on the bike.

Another option...
On my CBR 1100XX I run a Passport Max made by Escort and ran the fused power cord back to a keyed power supply. The rear running tail light. Has worked for years without any problems. Just be sure it is the tail light and not the brake light.

Be careful using that pocket for charging electronics. I was charging my Iphone inside it and melted the wifi antenna on it, Applestore trouble shot the problem and replaced the phone. The heat in there can do unpleasant things to any electronic device. I now run charging wire to tank bag from pocket.

A quartet harness is around $30 from Amazon. Below are some helpful write ups. I recommend using only low load devices from it like GPS, phone charging, etc. If your going to do something that uses more load like light and heated gear or lights, get a fuze block.

Thanks, but I've had no problems in there in many tens of thousands of miles over a decade. Qualcom, Motorola, Apple iPod, iP4/5/6, Cardo, Sena, etc.

The phone is usually on a Ram holder out in the breeze and if I take it off and place it in the pocket during rain the door is left ajar with lots of air circulating in the gap under the lid. If you placed the phone or any device inside the pocket and shut the lid it might overheat. Use some forethought here and let air circulate, don't shut the lid and go get a cheeseburger. The only time my phone or iPad overheated and shut down was when I placed it inside the map pocket on top of a tank bag.

Here's a source for connectors to the Quartet Harness: http://www.cycleterminal.com/index.html

On the site check out the 3 pin 2.8mm - .110 Male and Female locking connector - Nylon Connector with Terminals
Terminals Fit wire size .6 - 1.3 mm (16-22 AWG). And,
9 pin 2.8mm - .110 Male and Female locking connector - Nylon Connector with Terminals
Terminals Fit wire size .6 - 1.3 mm (16-22 AWG)

If you're going to use these connectors and terminals you'll need a decent crimp, around $32. High end crimps are $100+. Buy extra male and female terminals, if you're like me you'll mess up a couple. Check out their tutorial on crimping. Pliers create weak crimps, though many folks do it with success.
