Thanks Pete for the RTE call. How about that perfect weather?
Good to see U all. I believe all Hondas for this RTE. I know my ST13 turned over to 180,000. It has been some X riding it.
Thanks Bill & JCB for the ride lead into the Fort.
Those French made Box cars were filled with gifts to thank our government for WW1 help. every state received 1. Some, like NJ lost there's? Merci tour I think Iron Butt calls it. The ride that is. Go to every state with a car take picture + some other things? Bruce & Norm gave us Sue & I a run down early this year on there ride to locate them.
Thanks again. Looking forward to RTE Forksville.

Re: 2017-07-29 PA, Shamokin Dam - Skeeters BBQ Pit

Hey folks! Finally getting some time to respond here and post pictures.

    I created a new album - http://www.st-owners.com/forums/album.php?albumid=5266

Thanks to Jay and Bill for taking Bob and I on a little tour to Indiantown Gap. I learned a little PA Motorcycle terminology. Jay and Bill told us they were going to get some Ice Cream on the way to Indiantown Gap. After what seemed like hours of seriously fun and twisty roads (which really made me wish I either had more confidence in the darkside ( I know, my lack of confidence in the darkside is disturbing) or was running my usual PR4) I began to realize that when a Pennsylvania Rider promises Ice Cream he really means twisty roads with lots of elevation changes and 15-20 mph corners. Those twisty roads (125 is a route number I recall, will have to check the GPS logs at some point) are the sweet treat for a PA rider which is why they are referenced as Ice Cream. Thanks guys!!

I am working on a Team Strange Grand Tour this year - the Love and Merci Grand Tour. Also doing an Iron Butt National Parks Tour Silver.

So, just got to Julee, FL and had a bit of time.

The Merci Train boxcars were sent from France as a Thank You (Merci) for the 700,000 boxcars of relief supplies the US sent to France after the war. Google Merci Train if you want more details.

The Team Strange challenge is to locate as many of the boxcars as you can and take a picture of your challenge flag, motorcycle and boxcar. That is the Merci portion.

The Love portion involves photographing the post office or welcome sign at towns that start with L, O, V, or E. Also towns that have those letters in that order in their name - like Louisville, KY.

LOVE (or AMOR) sculpture in Philly and the Beach Boys statue in Hawthorne, CA are also targets.

There are other ways to get points and he who has the most points wins.

The Love and Merci is a play on a Brian Wilson song and a recent bio-movie on the Beach Boys.

So it was great that Jay and Bill gave us the guided tour to Indiantown Gap so I could get my necessary picture, Ice Cream and all.

I also got train pix in DE, VA, NC and SC since Saturday. Tomorrow FL then it's time to head west and back home with trains in LA, TX, NM, CA, NV, ID and MT. I'm not going to get them all but I'll have quite a few before October.

I'm so glad I called Bob on Friday and learned of the RTE. Great People, Great Food, and Great Riding.

    The Ice Cream was amazing!

Thanks all, nice to meet you.
