I called my local dealer about an ST1300 that I had seen on his floor. He told me he had sold it two weeks ago. I asked if he would be getting any more and he said they are all gone. I called another dealer and got the same answer. I looked on the web and found one about 60 miles away. I called and he still had it. About six hours later I was riding home on a new Black 2012 ST1300AC. I may have bought the last one in the southwest. There are four left on Cycletrader and there may be a few more hiding in some dealers inventory but Honda's cupboard is bare. (so I have been told.) I now have my backup plan. I will still be riding my 06 for a couple of years. The 12 will be in my garage getting farkeled up awaiting the retirement of the 06.....
I have ridden a lot of other bikes I have looked at the new stuff. The Honda got it right with the ST1300. I guess we are the only ones who know that.....

I think they got it right with both of them. Hoping the 3rd version, if it happens, is also a hit.

Congrats on your new bike. I would question the boldface - now we have to change the headlight bulbs to G6's. :bow1:

I don't see a change to Honda providing an update ST anytime soon. The sport touring market is just not there. Used ST's, Concours, and FJR's sell cheap as the demand for them is just not there. Seems most have moved on to the "Adventure" style bikes. Someday the pendulum may swing back, but until it does I would not expect anything new from Honda.

I have considered doing the same, as I really like my ST 1300. Trouble is don't know what Honda is going to come up with down the road and would hate to be trapped. Figure I can always find a newer/lower mileage unit than the one I have if I get desperate.

spidey that's one heck of a backup plan. Congratulations. I don't know that I'll be getting another bike after the ST and IF I do it would be something much smaller anyway not an s-t bike. Were I 20yrs younger it would be a different story.

Is Craig Vetter still alive? Maybe the market for his great Windjammer fairing will be revived!

Yes, It was the one from San Gabriel.

Sorry, the St1100 does not have an electric windshield. It is the one feature that makes this bike two different bikes in one package.
Shield up on the freeway. Shield down below 50 mph.... I use that up/down button many times every day.

If Honda comes out with a version 3, I will be very happy with what I now have.
The G6 leds was the first thing to change. It will get all the other upgrades that I did to the 06, thanks, to the things that I learned here on this site.

Different strokes for . . . . Having a windshield perfectly matched to my line of sight just over it, with a great Clearview screen, means I don't ever feel the need to raise or lower it, freeway, or around town. However, on the 1300 with all that heat pouring off the engine onto your legs and crotch, I guess lowering it down to cool you off could be helpful. Funny, I've never had a moment of engine heat issues with my 1100.

Is that because the 1100 is superior to the 1300 in every way?

Yes, except it is a little low on power, and has no electric windscreen.
I have never felt a heat issue on my 1300. I have heard about it though.

Stirring the pot so early!?!?!
I stir more of the pot before 9:00 a.m. than most people do all day. :potstir1: :D

Really, though, given a minute to think about it, I could probably come up with a list of why either bike is a terrible choice.

According to much of the MC press the CTX1300 will be the replacement. Good idea for weak demand but Big Red will get beat bad if the demand ever comes back. I drove on but was not impressed. Liked the low seat though.
