Thanks for choosing me Member Of The Month .
I have been riding since 1971 , starting with a ’71 Benelli Dynamo Trail , 65cc little buzzbomb , then graduated into a long series of different Hondas and 3 BMWs thrown into the mix. Been a member of GWRRA since Spring of ’78. I got interested in the ST during a 2011 vacation in Europe while visiting my oldest son stationed at Spangdalem AFB , Germany. We were touring several countries that have the Alps and I kept seeing STs in these mountains & then remembering my cousin that works at Honda R & D , talking about the early STs , back then , and so decided to try one out . Took a 1000 mile trip in a bus and bought it in Tulsa , Ok. & rode home. It’s been an enjoyable bike to ride and almost as smooth an engine but better handling than my ’91 GoldWing . I have put many accessories on it to bring it up to the same level of the GoldWing in comfort , ( except reverse , but being long legged , doesn’t matter to me ). After finding out how limited the accessories available for the ST are , I just figure out what could work and design & make special brackets , wiring , etc. to adapt to the ST1300 , but do it in such a way as to be able to return the bike to stock easily , if needed , without ruining the OEM parts or systems.
Picture is of my “fleet” , with the Aero 750 , which was my commuter bike before I retired , if I thin down the herd , the Aero will be the 1st to go.
