I was cruising ebay (like I do several times a day) when I noticed mixed in with the nuts and bolts from an '05 ST1300, was a Breakaway Throttle Lock. I continued studying the pieces and couldn't see the little bracket on the end. I then looked at their front brake master cylinder part for sale and sure enough, the bracket was sitting on it.

The parts were for $39 or best offer + $15 for shipping, so I offered them $34 and they took the offer. I then emailed the guy to see if he would get the little bracket off the FMC, and he did! :hat3:

So for less than $50, I picked up a Breakaway Throttle Lock and a bunch of ST1300 bolts, nuts and screws (that I really don't need...LOL)

I also picked up a used, but straight Cop Upper Cowl Stay for about $88! :D

HA HA! Something most don't know about.

I found out after I had rebuilt the 2004#1 that the front stay on a regular ST1300 was a very weak part. The Cop Stays are re-enforced at the "ears" that stick out where the mirrors and front cowl mount to the bike!

So on both the 2010 & 2004#2 I bought cop stays instead of the stock stays.

I picked this one up off ebay because it was "cheap". They should have had it around $120. New, they are around $241 or at Partzilla @ $177. Oh, and the Stock is around $192 at Partzilla...Go figure!

Thanks, but I'm actually looking for the ones that come through the plastic and up the outside. I can order them new, but dang! $$$$$$$$$$

Nope, haven't seen any of them lately!

BTW, the parts came in and the guy had actually separated the rubber dams and the braces/brackets and nuts, screws and bolts into large plastic bags! Then placed it all into some bubble wrap! The best darn packaging of hardware I've ever seen! :D

Now, if I can figure out this BreakAway Throttle lock! :think1:

We just returned home from our trip. Here are four pics on my bike. As I recall, I had to make some minor fitting adjustments to make the BreakAway work smoothly. Hope this helps.

Excellent, thanks for the pictures!

I haven't had time to try to figure out mounting mine, due to the grips I use are pretty thick.

Ok just so I'm clear their site calls this a cruise control but by the looks it's a throttle lock and not what we typically think of as a CC yes?

It looks like a lot of mechanism for what it does and a little pricey as well. Suddenly I don't feel so bad about wanting the STS turn signal thingy. But if it's what you want ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Yeah, it's a throttle lock... but some like to also call them cruise controls.. which is more generic..

To me it's a throttle lock. This one I picked up is missing a few parts (screws) but I should be able to order them. I just need to determine the best way to mount it, since I would like it to hold against the throttle tube and not the grip.
