ST1300 an Old Platform

This 2009 ST1300 still has life left in her. She ran toe to toe with the 2016 RTPs at the 2017 Southwest Police Motorcycle competition and walked away with the fastest time. In the hands of the right pilot, the ST can still hold its own.

Maybe it'd be more obvious when sitting on the bike, but when I look at videos like that I always think that I'd have trouble remembering the route to take through the cones, let alone actually carry out the manoeuvres!

I get the same exact feeling! All I see as a sea of cones!

Congrats on showing what the out of date heavy bike can do in the right hands!
I bought mine new 10 years ago this month. It still puts a smile on my face.

It amazes me the number of posters on this forum that keep repeating that the 1300 is an outdated platform. I came to this machine (by accident I might add) after a history of Goldwing's and FJ's. I have also driven BMW's except for the K1600GT. With some very minor mods this is a world class tourer. Sure some have self canceling directional but so what. This basic machine is outstanding! If Honda is smart they'll hang a few doodads on it and keep on running with it.

More than a couple of threads here explaining that it's Honda's smarts that keep it from running the ST any more.

I'd really like it if they updated a few things but there's nothing 'missing' that's a deal breaker for me.

One of the coolest tweaks I'd like to see is something from the 2017 CB100EX— digital/analog gauges. When the ignition is turned on both tach and speedo needles deflect to maximum stop and then go back to 0. It's way cool. It doesn't mean anything and I don't know that movement is even necessary. But it's trick. And it a 6-spd.
