Thread: Has anyone tried these LED headlights?

Re: Has anyone tried these LED headlights?

I find the amount of light (Lumens) provided by the stock dual 45 Watt H4 Honda halogen bulbs adequate but as the rider of a ST1100 with a 28 Amp alternator I am concerned about power consumption. The added lighting of the sidecar and other farkles add to this trepidation, so I have replaced brake/tail and additional sidecar lighting with LEDs. While this has eased my fear somewhat, one of the biggest draws on the system is the 90 Watts continuously consumed by the dual headlights. The Honda lights provide about 1150 Lumens each (2300 Lumens total) as I understand it and the aesthetics of the yellowish light does not appeal to me; prefer a white or more blueish hue. While the Eviteks and others touted here provide a better price, a blueish hue, much more light 9000 Lumens for the pair, they still consume 80 Watts hence my interest in these Superbright LED headlights, 2600 lumens slightly more than stock and only 37.2 Watts a pair and a blueish hue. What say ye?

Anyone know how LEDs would respond to a headlight modulator?

The Eviteks only consume 1.5 amps each or 43 watts a pair....

The specs I read said 40 Watts each if 43 Watts is correct then it's pretty much a no-brainer. Thanks

40 watts each is what the power supply can deliver and the emitters are rated for but the measured power is 21.5 watts. kind of like your motor can deliver 120 hp at 8000 rpm but you run it down the road at 60 hp and 4000 rpm... running at lower stress makes it last a long time.....

Has anyone tried a 100/85W (Higher wattage) bulb in an ST1100?
