I have a Progressive suspension rear shock fitted, which I installed new myself 10,000km ago. I was refitting the wheel after a tyre change last night and as I was torquing the axle nut, I noted the swingarm was able to lift up by a few mm. The freeplay is coming solely from the top shock mount. I checked the top mounting bolt and it is tight, so I think the freeplay is either between the bolt and the shock bushing, or between the bushing and the shock top eye. Is that normal or do I need to get into some remediation?

I don't know about your shock but the original has a removable insert/bush.
There should be no discernable movement or handling may be compromised.
The wear is either in the shock top or securing bolt, wear could be down to lack of lubrication.
Of course with it being aftermarket, was it a good fit in the first place?
Hope it helps.

When I fitted my new wilbers shock I replaced both bolts as far as I remember, I don't think there shouldn't be any movement.

Thanks for the replies. The bolt is unmarked and original, there is plenty of grease in the bushing. I have contacted PS to see about getting a replacement part.
