Just to share a few pics from my recent round-trip southern Norway.
My son who studies in Oslo, called for help so I saddled up my tower-grey beast :07biker:

Shortest route would be over the mountains, but the forecast showed low temps, so going east I took the longer coastal route.
Nice weather, dry roads, temps between 43 and 67, mostly round 57.
Riding time east 9 hours.

Going west I took the mountainroute, not that chilly, only for an hour an a half maybe.
Riding time west 7,5 hours.

It is now evident that my personal monsters don`t like riding motorcycles, so I soon found myself at peace and in good spirits.:guages1:

Stayed with my son for five nights, and we had a really good time.
(Wish I had that relationship with my dad....not entirely his fault I guess...)

Enjoy!
Stu

A lake at Notodden.

Flatdal ( Flat valley ) coming up.

DSC06072.jpg
Melting snow made a lot of beautiful waterfalls.

DSC06080.jpg
Not much traffic.

DSC06081-001.jpg
Warmer than it looks.

DSC06090.jpg
Nice to even out the tire-wear.

DSC06095-001.jpg
More water. Almost tipped over to the right, due to gravel and sand on the roadside. Severely rise in heartrate.

DSC06100.jpg
More waterfalls.

DSC06104.jpg
Got pretty soaked passing this one.

I've been to Norway twice for cold weather training when I was in the Marine Corps. Would love to see it as a civilian. Although there is really nothing quite as exhilarating as riding in the back of a tracked amphibious vehicle when it starts sliding backwards on a snow/ice covered road with nothing between you and a very long drop into the fiord. We were very busy removing rubber track pads after that one.

Nice report. I really liked the road in photo #9 - nice place to get to use that expensive rubber on the sides of the tires that all too often goes to waste.

Thanks Stu, nice piccies.
I have been fortunate enough to visit the West Coast of Norway but not on a bike. Now there's an idea?!?
Unfortunately there's no ferry anymore from Newcastle so it's a long way to travel before you get to Norway, but I suppose that is what ST's are for.
Thanks for posting.

Retiring next year and planning a trip to Norway, Sweden and Finland. Hope to go all the way to Nordkapp.
Been planning this now for a few years. Hope it all comes together next year.

No ferry from Newcastle! Wow. I didn’t realise that. I enjoyed that trip across to Bergen in 1975, then four days on to Oslo. (No not on my bike).
A beautiful few days, still vivid in my memory.

My mother was born in Norway and came to the US as a teenager. I've only been there once for a two week vacation. It's a remarkably beautiful country. I'd love to go again.

Nice!
I once went to a consert with him in Boston, but he didn`t show up...:(
Night before he had started a fight with some of the audience :box1:
He overdosed just after that. Beeing that brilliant musician (or anything else...) probably has some downsides to it.
