with nothing else to do saturday I decided to take a ride out to ionia, mi. I finally made it out the door and got started about 10:10, calm winds with hardly any clouds and 72º showing on the thermometer of the mighty ST 1300. I rode up and hopped on 96 heading west, what a great day to be out on a bike, even a pushie would have been fun today! things were going great until the construction backup at around mile marker 98 so that's where I exited the expressway for some ( unknown to me ) good riding around the grand ledge, mi area. only problem was I ended up going east rather than west so once back on the expressway I ended up back in the construction zone that I was trying to avoid. once again I got off the expressway at exit 98 but this time I rode down to m-43 and headed west. I stopped in the small town of sunfield for gas which I didn't bother to get before I hit the road. all they had was 87 octane so I only got three gallons seeing that the mighty ST 1300 takes premium fuel. the thermometer on the mighty ST 1300 was up to 77º but it was cloudy, made me wonder if going west was such a good idea but the clouds were high so I rode on the made a right turn on m-66, the " other 66 "

I've driven on m-66 going north into ionia, mi but never south, I was pleasantly surprised at the curves and a couple spots had tunnels of trees before I arrived in

Nashville was a pleasant small town but I was out to get my kicks not visit a particular town or city so I continued south on m-66 which took me to battle creek, mi. know as cereal city around these parts, other than a stop to get a pic of a mural I just rolled on through

by the time I reached Athens, mi. I figured I had burned enough of the 87 octane gas from sunfield, mi. and stopped to fill up with premium, this would give me more than enough gas to make it home, what about the fuel cell? cousinjeff has been a little busy so he hasn't had time to finish up, he has done all the work while taking lunch or taking a break at henry's. continuing south on m

realizing that I wasn't on m-66 anymore I decided to go west out of Sherwood and pick up the next paved road heading south. that road happened to be m-86, m-86 was short on curves, trees and traffic but it did take me down to coldwater, mi. where I took my last pic

I took us-12 east and started heading home, missed out on a great pic of some fire trucks sitting in front of the fire station and a small airplane sitting out at an air field, darn it!! I made a stop at the marathon gas station just east of cement city not for gas but for water and more importantly cookies!! traffic was getting heavier so I abandoned us-12 and took m-52 north only to find that the state police had the road closed about four miles north of us-12, I didn't want to loop around the accident on dirt roads so I rode back to us-12 and then took Austin road north, when traffic is light Austin road is one of the most fun roads to ride, traffic wasn't bad so the ride was fun. I took pleasant lake rd. east and missed another turn and ended up in dexter, mi. so I took dexter / ann arbor road into ann arbor, mi. home of U of M " go blue!! I was ready to go home so I made my way over to I-94 and headed for the motor city. only a few blocks from home I stopped at the fish market for a catfish dinner, it was 18:40 by then and I had 384 miles for the day
