Hello all! 30 minutes ago I'm on my way to the gas station. With every on/off throttle movement, I would hear a click...as it was cush drive wearing out. This is a bike with 140,000 in it so... Well a few more shifts, less the a half mile from where I started. A slight jolt and all power to transmission gone. and this is what it does now. https://youtu.be/5ktsZTstbF8
Any help would be appreciated, thanks you.

Sounds to me like you are caught between gears. Perhaps the shifter dogs? Or the shifter mechanism? This is a guess - i've never delved into the transmission. I'm going to make a big assumption here - you notice no difference in clutch feel, right?

No firsthand experience, but isn't that the symptom you'd have if your U-joint failed? Or some other drive train failure between the transmission and the rear wheel. I don't know how common it is, but U-joint failures have been discussed on this forum occasionally.

Maybe a broken input shaft to gearbox, I hope not
I think more likely +1 on the drive shaft/diff.
I'd start by pulling the back apart just to check the shaft etc.
If you say the clutch is working and it sounds as though it is work from the back forward. If it could be the clutch maybe try a quick bleed first.
Hope it helps.

The girl has a great pair of splines.

I think that pic does not show what you think it shows.

FBR, with the clutch in, i.e. lever pulled in to the bar there is no drive to the rear wheel so the rear wheel splines shouldn't be making any undue noises without drive.
Is this a clutch basket issue?
Thoughts anyone.
By the way, I think you're great with computers.

Your pictures of the splines do not look like mine do when I pull the wheel. Is that an accumulation of dirt? Is the condition indicative of no maintenance? I clean mine every time I pull the rear wheel and re moly them. Mine look greasy, but distinct. Are yours worn beyond the two chips I see out of the teeth? My point is with bad splines, I would question other maintenance preventable issues on your bike.

Alright, guess I have skills I didn't know about! SMSW, no offense taken, none given, all good! Glad I could provide some entertainment!

Now, in all gears with the clutch in or out but not neutral. this is what I get.

I bought the bike a year ago, $1500 with 121,000 on it now with 140,000 so.... Seems it has been basically taken care of but..... yea I would agree.

yep, the ground down teeth plus the grinding sound in the video with the wheel spinning without the engine running would suggest your drive splines are the problem.

But it would be a good idea to tighten down the axle nut to make sure the wheel is firmly seated into the final drive. In the video the axle nut is loose on the end of the axle.
