Last Saturday had an accident, hit a car. Usually car drivers don't see a motorcycle. This time I didn't see the car. Broke my left wrist. The bike is, I think, totaled. I say "I think" because I still didn't check the bike more detailed. From the images I took while waiting to be towed, the fork is gone, mirrors and Tupperware, windshield...

Glad it wasn't worse... we all have our moments, the good thing is when they don't cause major issues and it looks like this is more minor from a personal perspective.. the bike, you can get another one.

Glad you are ...okay... at least you're typing (even if one handed) You got to watch out for those pesky cages, they will sneak up on you without you knowing it! :eek:4:

If the bike is totaled, hopefully you'll be able to find another that suits your riding!

Wow, glad you're OK Afan! My guess is it's totaled. They're not worth much and plastic is expensive, plus your triple tree is toast, thus the frame is likely bent. Heal up and start searching for your next bike. If you decide on another ST11, try to buy this one back from insurance for a parts bike. I did and it was worth it. Also, pull off any farkles that you can before it's too late.

Keep us updated.

According to my insurance agent, I should get around $3,000 for the bike. There is an option to fix the bike but I'll not be able to have full coverage again. I personally think the fix is going to be more than what's the bike worth but he's kinda sure it wouldn't be a problem.
I was hoping for the third option, like i had for my car when my neighbor hit me when backing up, I got less money but kept the car. I invested into the bike a bit over $1,000 in last 6 months. Brand new tires, rear wheel/flange, final drive, thermostat, thermo sensor, thermo switch, clutch slave, clutch lever, almost totally rebuilt the carbs, cooling hoses and elbows... It's a shame to waste so many new parts... :(

I am glad to hear you didn't get hurt more that you did. I went down ( over a Saturn ) about 2 1/2 years ago & my 91 looked like your pictures.
A total for sure. You can find other ST1100 as I picked up my new to me in your fair state about 8 weeks ago.
Heal up & start to shop.

Funny, just finished 4300 miles trip through 9 states (started to write it about it, it was on my new NC700X DCT) w/o any problem, and then two days after I got home while testing the ST (got it from the shop couple days before i left)
:)

That's what I was thinking, but my agent wasn't sure it's possible. Probably new in "motorcycle field".

Glad you are OK less the wrist fracture. Two fatal crashes here recently. Tell us about the trip on the 700 while you heal!

Sorry Afan, heal up quick.

FYI, my insurance adjustor was going to low-ball me on my pickup claim and I "insisted" he pay for the improvements I had put into it and he did!

Glad that the damage to you is healable and the bike you can always get a new one. Buy a bike that has been well maintained and you'll be ahead of trying fix this one.

REALLY sorry to read this. Glad it's not more than the broken wrist. As everyone is saying... the bike is replaceable. Hope the wrist heals up fast and as good as new.
Oh, and it is sad for me to see the bike like that too. :(
Glad you were able to get the multi-state ride in. Be sure to write about that. Give your impressions on a LD traveling on the NC700X. Good therapy right there.
