Today was a bittersweet day. I sold the ST1300, I really like it but the Mrs. likes the Goldwing better and could only keep one bike. I'll stick around here as long as you guys let me stay.

We went the other way, selling our GL1000s and spares and bought/refurbished an ST1100. The ST was a more comfortable fit than the smaller GL...plus it handled well loaded and stopped when needed. Not sure why, but we just couldn't get a warm and cozy feeling about the newer Gold Wings.

I LOVED my '77 GL1000! Of course I've said that of every bike I've ever owned and a few I haven't. But it was a great bike.

There was one at Alice's a few months back. It was well worn though and naked. Mine had a Vetter Windjammer and Vetter trunk and mag wheels. His did have the auxiliary gas tanks that replaced the side covers.

Had I the space I'd love to have a restored '77 GL. What year was it available in Yellow? Mine was black.

Mine were 1978 models. I restored a black model to almost new condition from it's Harley configuration the po put it in. It was a plain bike with only a luggage rack and short backrest for my wife. This one was our trip bike. It was reliable and comfortable, but a little tight with both of us aboard. We put 78,000 miles on. Another blue one, 20,000 miles, in decent original condition. Third was a black model, under 20,000 miles, that needed help. Had all the spares to restore the remaining two bikes. I just got tired of same old same old.

I've got a 95 Kawasaki Voyager. gets mistaken for an GL1200 all the time. I like it, but SWAMBO has insisted we get a GL1800. We rented one a while back, and my brother has one as well. Since I can't keep 3 bikes...

You are not alone. GL1800 for the wife and I. We did Rockstoc 1 a few years ago from PA. 6,130 miles in 17 days. We got home and the boss said "I don't feel like I have been on a bike for 17 days". Yep, we are keeping it.

I'm picking up my first GW tomorrow, 1981 GL1100 Interstate. It's got some funky aftermarket running boards on it now and i want to put the oem footrests back on the bike. So the question i have is, what other years, if any, will fit? More compatible years will give me a bigger search pool. I've asked on GW forums, but the aren't as active as this board. I'm looking if anybody in ST land has one or both pegs. Cheers and thanks. Scott .

Chunk,
I’ve had quite a few Wings as has my wife. 12 total. I would guess that if you look at any micro fiche, you will see that a lot of years are compatible. I’m sure that 81-83 would be as they are all 1100’s. Honda went to a 1200 in 84.
