Everything quit, then after a few minutes, all good, but shortly failed again, repeat

Driving to work this morning, when I was pulling into favorite coffee shop...F1 light goes on, seconds later, no turn signals, engine sputtering, get into a parking spot, engine stalls. Turn ignition key off, then back on...NOTHING! No idiot lights, no starter, nada.

So, call my wife and get her on the way to rescue me, and I go get my cup of coffee and wait.

After about an hour, just of the heck of it, I try to start bike, and viola...it's as if nothing ever went wrong. I shut it down and continue to wait for my rescue.

Finally, wife shows up, and I decide to ride the bike home instead of trailering it. Well, that didn't work.

Went a whole two blocks, F1 light, turn signals slowly fade out and quit, and engine stalls...no life whatsoever...again.

Trailer the bike home, then go to work as obligated.

This evening, same thing, get bike off trailer, turn the key...and it's like nothing ever went wrong. I drive the bike into the garage.

I suspect heat and faulty electronics. Battery seems perfectly fine as it cranks like gangbusters after sitting.

First clue is F1 light, but I haven't checked the codes, yet.

Anyone experience anything like this?

2005 ST1300 with about 72,000 miles. No problems whatsoever until now.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

First thing I would test/check is the battery.
The first question I would ask is how many and what type of accessories do you have on the bike.
Check battery - Check all fuses - Check ground wires - Check handlebar switches and make sure they are clean and lubricated Kill/starter/signal etc.
Let us know what you find.

any time the symptoms are weird like that, first rule out marginal battery capacity, then ground issues are a close second.

Here is my saga with my 2005 bike quitting like that years ago.
Turned out to be the ground cap wiring harness was fried behind the right headlight.
