Feejer, what you are suggesting has been done, can't remember where I read it but that was an ABS bike and the brakes were returned to Non ABS/ Non CBS.
Is it a design fault? Jury's out for me. Bike brakes are a mystery in their entirety, do any of us have to rip our car brakes down so regularly to keep them working correctly, I doubt it.
Can we stop without ABS/CBS, yes and I do it every time I go out, and guess what, I haven't had a lock up in 4 years and 20,000 miles.
Does ABS save lives/accidents, yes, does CBS help the uninitiated to apply front and rear brakes with more confidence, yes.
I think the decision will be yours, but Honda should have done a better job of the SMC, good luck.
