2007 Honda ST1300
I have had a number of bikes over the years starting with a Cushman when I was 13-years old. In Japan in the early 60's I bought a brand new Honda 305 Superhawk for the enormous sum of $400 and I thought it was wonderful. Years later I had a Yamaha FJR which was a great bike but just not right for me. Finally I bought a 2007 ST1300 and I love it. A year later the FJR was gone and I was riding nothing but the ST1300. But then as I turned 81-years old I thought that maybe I needed a lighter bike. I know that I would struggle to pick up a ST1300 should it fall over. After a lot of research I bought a Suzuki Boulevard C50 805cc. It is about 200-pounds lighter than the ST which is nice and it is fuel injected. However, once you have owned and ridden a ST1300, there is no going back. The Suzuki is nice but there is no way I will give up my ST1300. Except, of course, if I was able to work some kind of trade for a red ST1300.

Ever since seeing the smallest girl ever pick up a Gold Wing, I use the leg press method.

I'm thinking that if I ever decide to replace my ST1300, it would be primarily to get something lighter and easier to handle. I think my first choice would likely be a Suzuki SV100S. Its over 200lbs lighter (wet) than the ST, which would be a big advantage for me since I'm not as young as I once was and that is becoming a problem for me with the ST1300. The biggest potential disadvantages would be chain drive and no luggage. I don't think the former would really present a problem for me, as chain drive has advanced a lot since the RD400 that I started with, as they have long used O-Ring chains that are pretty much maintenance-free; the second issue should be readily resolved with either soft luggage or GIVI saddle bags and/or top box.

Does anyone here have any personal experience with the SV1000S? I've owned a couple of Suzukis in the past and can't honestly say that I've had any major issues with either of them compared to other bikes that I've owned over the years.

I got back into riding about four years ago. I rode my brothers 2009 FJR1300 several times and was very impressed with all aspects.....That is until I test rode a ST1300! I ended up with a 2006 ST1300, abs, and EVERY TIME I ride the bike, short or long distance, I say "I would buy this bike all over again!" My wife has some back and neck issues but it is so smooth and comfortable for her that we are able to ride all day long with breaks every 2.5 hours to give the our backsides a rest. The instruments are dated and difficult to see in the day light and I would really like to have a more effective cruise control (rather than a throttlemeister) but the total product is fantastic! I've got a little over 50,000 and hope for another 50,000+.

Ride Safe.

The Neowing would be in Europe before coming to America.
With the large American baby boomer population coming of age it is now or never.
I would buy one in a heart beat. But would first half to demo one as it certainly is no motorcycle.
