Just a thought - the nice thing about having an 'external' backup is you can install it on the side of the road (just need a 'key on' hot and a ground and a couple of hose clamps). You'd still have to remove the side panels and the tank cover to do it, but that doesn't take long. I have my setup (already has the wires, the hoses and the clamps) in a little bag that I toss into a saddlebag if I'm taking a trip of any length. There are some places where there is nobody around and no cell service - not the sort of place you want to spend a long time on the side of the road hoping somebody shows up!
