Tire choices....ugh

Ok, so don't flame me for another tire thread....LOL
Looking for a long lasting tire set. On my new-to-me ST.....the tires that it came with have about another 1000 miles, and these are Conti Road Attacks. The prior owner states they were changed in 2008, at 24K. I Bought it with 32K. Sounds like incredibly good lifespan......nearly 10K. Thinking I might as well stay with these?

And don't go by that mileage I used the Conti's and only got about 5.5 k out of the rear. Some get 10-15k on a set of tires I rarely get to 10k usually replacing my PR4GT's at 8k

I have Pirelli Angel GT's. I bought my bike and it had a set on it with only 7500 miles on the bike. I don't know when they were mounted. I changed mine at @11500 miles because I was taking a 3500 mile trip. They had about 1/8" left on the rear before the wear bars. I like the tires. I ran Pilot Road 3's on my r1100rt and got 10,000 plus miles before changing. I was going to buy Pilot Road 4 GT's but the Pirellis were quite a bit cheaper. I'll see how many miles I get on these and try the Pilot Road 4 GT's next to compare.

While I enjoyed my Conti road attacks, I Love my Pirelli Angel GT's! I think I'm on my 4th or 5th set, and I get about 10K out of them. I do not try and squeeze any mileage out of them once they touch the wear indicators, and I replace them as soon as they touch them.
They are the best tire I've run on these bikes so far, and as stated above, they cost less than the PR4 too. They are quiet, smooth, grip in all kinds of weather, tar snakes don't bother them, nor grooved road surface, and best of all, they don't cup or wear funny like a dual compound tire.

Keith, Todd and I all say Pilot Road 4 GTs. I get over 10K on a rear. The fronts are good for 12K+, but I usually change them at the same time as the rears. Good handling, great in the rain, and they wear well. No need to read any further...

Just purchased a MICHELIN 180/55 ZR17 PILOT ROAD 4. One of the best motorcycle tires made. The current one on my ST has about 8500 miles on it and still has 1000 miles of tread left. But I don't like waiting till the last minute to replace my tires. They are spendy, but you get what you pay for.>

Not sure what I'm missing, but I'm looking at prices that are very similar. Between Amazon, Revzilla, Bike Bandit, Comp Acc, I get prices within $20 between the Angel GT and the Pilot Road 4.

Who should I be checking that I missed?

I just got 11,000+ out of my first set of PR4GTs on my 2012 (still need to replace the front, but no hurry, it's still in good shape.). I also have them on my 2010. Great tires!

I would recommend the PR4GTs also, but I have also heard some good things about the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 tires and might give them a try next time.

I've used Bridgestone tires ever since I bought the ST1300 in 2009.
Here are the latest model tires from them.. Just make sure they are the GT model if you do decide on them.
I get high milage out of them, but that depends on how and where you ride.
Also, there is a rebate on these tires till the end of August, so they work out to be about $115 a tire.

Bridgestone T30 GTs in the Evo or non-Evo version, the latter getting marginally better mileage. Very good handling tires on the ST.

currently running a shinko verge on the front, have bout 7k on it and it still has lots of life left. Some here on the forum love them and the price is right. I have no complaints wet or dry. Had a 190/60 r17 Bridgestone g850 that I got 12k or it and have no complaints. Had t30s and bt023, lucky to get 6k out of them. Never again!!

I also heard a lot of bad things about them (roadsmart 3)!!

So... lurking... needing new rubber... and decided to bite the bullet and ordered some Pirelli Angel GT in 170/60-17 for the rear (ST1100-- Wineberry... the fastest) and 120/70-18 front.

My deciding factor was igofar's remarks on tar snakes. We've got our share, but a couple roads around here are downright dangerous when you start moving around in the corner. If anyone has had mileage and would know... I believe his reputation speaks for itself.

Called a local shop and asked about pricing and they said they basically match Revzilla. Cool, I like supporting local, so they should be here in a couple weeks.

+1 Love my Pirelli Angel GT, Igofar endorsement helped me decide. 2k and counting with little sign of wear.

+1 Local shop met internet price and mounted them with wheels brought in off the bike. $ were + for balancer and stems. I like supporting the local independent shop.

I have been buying my last several sets of tires from American Motorcycle Tires. Usually the best price and very fast delivery. I've been very pleased so far with them.

I currently have two ST1300s. One has a new set of Michelin PR4 on it and the other has new Bridgestone Battlax T30 GTs on it.

When I had the PR4s installed on my 03 ST1300, I thought that these were the greatest tires in the world. Handling is great, Confident in rain. I really like them.

Now, I just bought a 06 ST1300 that has the Bridgestone T30 Battlax tires. My first drive was through long winding canyon roads and these tires held every corner with precision. Great on Freeways and just an amazing feel for the road. They just feel safe to me in every way.

I'm selling the 03 and have the choice of keeping either of the two sets of new tires. My decision is to keep the T30 Battlax GTs. The Pr4s cost more and are great. But these Battlax's just make me feel confident and safe...
