    Re: July'17 MOTM - ReSTored

Congratulations Phil. A very nice write-up. My last bike before the child and family gap of 20 years was an XS650 with a sidecar. I lusted after the XS750 with its shaft drive and cast wheels, but couldn't afford one. I'd had 2 ST1100s when I bought my first ST1300. I was making some comments to our local dealer about a couple of things that were niggling about it, and he said something that struck home. 'There's nowt wrong with the 1300 other than the fact that you've had the 1100 first'.

Congrats, Phil. I never knew that you almost bought an ST1300 ABS, the same bike that Jeff F and I rode for years!

Looking forward to riding with you in late August at ONSTOC in White Lake near Ottawa.

Yes, and like the 1100 I'd probably still be riding it. When I went to cancel the contract and get my deposit back the non-abs ST1300 I'd sat on in December 2002 was still on the floor unsold and the sales guy tried to get me to take it instead. His unsolicited first offer was $15,500 + tax and I think it listed for $17,600 or something like that so I think he was pretty eager to get it out the door, a harbinger of slow sales volume for the ST and why Honda isn't going to introduce a replacement anytime soon. Anyways, I didn't engage and got the 1100 instead.
