Just picked up a slightly used 2013 KLR650 for those days when off roading seems like a good plan. Only 2592 Kilometers...1555 miles. Not even broke in and comes with side and top bags, tank bag, Oxford heated grips, Sergent seat, 2 new oil filters, RAM mounts...what a great deal I got on this. Well ride on!

Well it wasn't by design Todd, it was that I need the extra CC's to carry my excess carcass over the hills and out of the dirt. The poor smaller bike would have an aneurysm trying to do that. I will post a few, as we do have that type of riding south of here.

Well sorry to say I am selling off my ST and all parts for it and moving on with my new ride...I will miss you guys...:( OMG I could never leave the ST world now! What a great group of people and even a great bike. I love the bike, and now meeting all these great folks on here, I am hooked! I did sign up on a KLR forum although I am not getting the warm and fuzzys there yet. Here I feel the love. Group hug anyone or do we save it for STOC-TOBERFEST around the fire?

All holding hands and singing Kum-Ba-Ya (traditional American campfire song).... sure... that's what it is like... :?

I think the STOC community can handle another defector. To my knowledge, Mellow hasn't kicked anyone out (but you could be a trend setter).

Ride what you ride. I would rather see you show up on a Kaw than sitting at home at the computer wishing the ST would make it over the pass. :inpc1:

Like I said before, on here and at NEW-stoc, it really doesn't matter what flavor of bike you have, as long as you ride. Now I have a few choices, but i love the ST and the people I have met so far. Please don't shun me from this community...If it helps I was at the Honda dealership and tried to get the Honda equivalence before I bought the Kawi, but this was too good of deal to pass up on. Ok, I may be a bit cheap...

Thrifty? No... value oriented. Much nicer sounding.

Similar to my wife. She is never picky about her food. But, she is particular!

Congrads on the KLR! FWIW, I learned this the hard way.

1. I strongly suggest that you take the rear suspension apart and grease all bearings and all three axles ( wheel, swingarm and UniTrack). They corrode, especially the UniTrac, and are almost impossible to remove past a certain point without a good coating of waterproof grease.

2. Do the EM Doohickey upgrade, with the torsion spring, if not done already. Your stock coil spring will be slack when you open the engine up.

3. KLR650.net is your friend

Thanks JM. I will check out that site as well. Thanks for the info on greasing her up. As far as I get the info so far is the doohickey wasn't required for the newer models but yes the spring may not have any tension. I will jump on the forum you said as I was on another that really isnt the information monster I am looking for, although I may be spoiled by the ST Owners site folks.
