I just noticed yesterday while tearing down my new-to-me bike, that it has a Progressive Suspension rear shock.

The shock and the sticker on it both look to be a bit old.
it does not look like exactly the 465 Progressive currently has listed for the ST1100:

My shock has an air valve (tire type schrader) on the upper portion.
Does varying the air pressure adjust dampening or preload or?
Does anyone know where the pressure should be set?
Also, what do the small adjustment dials do; compression/rebound?

Thanks :03biker:

I have a Progressive 465 shock that I bought last year for my 1100. There is a gas fitting (not a Schrader valve though) on top but this is not for user adjustments, the shock is nitrogen pressurised to prevent the oil from foaming in use. The only pre-load adjustment is from winding the spring adjuster up or down.

The sole adjustment on the base of the shock is for rebound damping where 1 is light and 5 heavy. The manual warns against turning the adjuster backwards from 1 to 5 as I believe the cam that moves the needle has a step in it and turning that way will burr the end of the needle.
