Hey ho peeps

Have a brutal case of engine rattle under load, so am looking to check the counter balance adjustment. Had a go a while back, but couldn't get the buggers to shift, even after using penetrating oil. Have a service due soon, so seems like a good time to have another go.

Has anyone else had stuck balancer shafts? Tips? Suggestions?

Many thanks y'all

Nick.

From a number of the pictures of bikes from your side of the pond, I would have to say you'll probably need a chisel to knock off the crud that is freezing them up! :eek:4:

Your salty air does wonders to aluminium engines!

Mix equal parts of ATF fluid and Acetone, this is one of the best penetration oils known to man!
Use a needle oiler and put several drops on the end of the shafts, arms, and bolts, and let it sit over night, in the morning you should be able to use a good quality (large) screwdriver to loosen them.
And yes, the CB adjustment WILL remove alot of your rattle if its out of adjustment.
You may also try doing a TB sync, as this will help smooth things out as well.
Could it be your hearing/feeling your clutch rattle?
