@dwalby did you witness the contrail right across the sky from the jetsetters flying into the Corvalli Airport just in time for totality?

I was just to your east in Corvallis across Hwy 34 from the Oregon State stadium. :)
if I did it wasn't something I remember today. When everything went dark it was hard to make out anything in the sky anyway. I'd never been to a total eclipse before so I wasn't expecting that to happen, so I just enjoyed the rush I felt during the darkness.

edit: I looked at my pictures and yes, like a rainbow arching across the sky just below the sun, there is a contrail.

Great write up Keith.
Great reminder of sweetheart, me, our dogs trip to totality.
Did anyone notice how crystal clear shadows became a just before and after totality?
Every individual leaf of the trees were clearly outlined.
We drive from roughly from Cleveland Ohio to Nashville to see it.
2024, all we need is good weather and a chair on our lawn.

the leaves on the trees created a type of pinhole camera effect where we were watching, it cast a bunch of crescent shaped illuminations on the ground, or the hood of a car, see attached.

We should plan to have some meet ups for 2024
Totality will pass right through my area (North Central Texas), I know I wouldn't miss it
