Never put 100,000 miles on one motorcycle before (although I've put over 40K on a bunch of them), but I vowed to try it when I bought my ST new in 2008. Turned over this, on today's ride. I'm getting close. Hope to get the deed done by the end of the year.

after that I'm contemplating riding it until it quits, or getting something new (er). Thought about another low mile late model year ST because this has been a great bike. Sure wish Honda would make something new I'd like... same concept only 100 ponds lighter with ABS, heated grips, cruise, gear indicator etc. At 67 the next one, might be my last one.

Maybe not. Wasn't there a woman riding a Goldwing well into her 80's? She was famous in LD riding circles and rode year 'round. I remember reading she had a small hyd jack and had a way to get the bike upright alone after a tip over.

Some people are tougher than others..I can tell she is tougher than me lol. There is a guy here in Ohio in his 80s still running Iron Butts. He's tougher than me too lol. I know you never know, but genetics in my family says I can reasonably expect to make it to about 78. Already having little medical things starting to go wrong. The writing is on the wall. My goal has always been to ride until I am 70. IF I get lucky enough to ride beyond that I will be thankful, but if I only make it to 70, I will still be grateful. This is my 52 year of riding on the street. My wife has ridden with me for 44 of those years. It has been a dominate force my whole life. We have ridden in 42 states, 2 Canadian provinces and 5 countries in Europe. I hope to hit the other 6 states next summer. Unfortunately my wife won't be joining me on those trips unless I trailer the bike. With an articial hip and 2 artificial knees her long distance days are over.

So, I figure one more bike, but first I need to get 100K on this one.

I saw this lady at a BMW rally. She was doing donuts on a full size 'Wing. I think she was 79 at the time. Amazing!

I have 14K to go to hit 100K on my ST1300. I've never done that on one bike. I would already be there if I would quit buying other bikes. The ST splits time now with two other bikes. I hope to knock a chunk out of those miles headed west in about a month.
Best of luck reaching your 100k on your ST. And who knows, you might just do it again on your next bike.

Congrats! It appears you and the ST have been good for one another. Wish I wouldn't kept mine. At this point, I probably won't get 100k on one bike. Good luck getting you other 4k. If MN is not one of the state visited, get in touch when you pass through.

Yep same problem here if you call that a problem lol. I could do it in under 4 years if I just rode 1 bike. I've put 35,000 miles on my 14 CB1100. I put 8500 miles on my 13 CB1100, 24,000 on a CB 750 Nighthawk, about 4000 miles on a Yamaha YPV 400, and about 40,000 miles on a Yamaha FZ-1 while I've had the ST. The ST has always been my " major trip" bike for the most part, and the others my daily riders.

Good luck to you too. Growing up in a motorcyling family, it seemed inconceivable that one could ride the same motorcycle for 100,000 miles. nobody ever rode them more than 40,000 miles before selling them before "something major went wrong. My how times have changed.

My father in law still rides almost every spring, summer, fall day, he's 82. He recently met up with some old friends traveling across the continent. The youngest 76, the oldest, 86.

At 58, I thought I would quit riding in my sixties. I think I will add a couple of decades to that estimate... looks like 80 is the new 60.

I have a 96 BMW r1100rt with 70,000 on it. I bought it with 17k on it. I wanted to put 117,000 on it but the transmission started to slip when going from 4th to 3rd. My son has been home on vacation with me and has been riding it. Think I'll swap the transmission and let him ride it. He had to sell his bike to buy a newer car for the winter.

I have 90,500 miles on my '03 ST1300, bought new and I will be 83 in a few weeks. The bike is much closer to new then my body is but I also hope to reach the 100,000 mark. My riding is almost all back road fun miles and this takes longer then droning the slab to work and back.

My 03 is just a few hundred ahead of yours. I expect to turn 100,000 early next year. It will be my fourth to hit that mark. Enjoy your ride to the big one!

Awesome Arnie... What other bikes have you turned 100,000 on? I find that amazing. Very cool!

Well .... I'm 76 next month and still ride about 20,000 a season ....

Gord (and its a short season up here) JOne
Impressive Gord, especially with such a short season. I ride 20-25k miles per year, but I commute and can ride pretty much year around, so I get bonus miles. ;)
