1991 ST1100 very weak spark

great, glad you got it sorted. BTW, what brand were the aftermarket coils? Also, were they new or used when you bought them? If they're not reliable you may save someone else the trouble of buying a set and throwing theirs away too.

The coils were not branded, just sold as new parts fitting several Honda bikes, including the ST1100. Price was about $20 each. They included new wires. The vendor refunded my money, but didn't want the coils back.

That's very telling. Unfortunately it's an unknown until some point after your purchase.

You usually can't go wrong with used Ebay OEM parts, BTW.
