Hey everyone,
I'm sitting on the ferry back to Vancouver Island after a fun weekend away.
We use Sena SMH10 headsets in full face HJC CL-17 helmets with chin aprons.

We both experienced a lot of wind noise through the mics from gusty side winds.
Visors were down but it was to the point that we couldn't communicate.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's going on?
Many thanks as ever!

No idea, but.....I have found some boom mikes are very directional to block out ambient noise. Maybe if you gently twist the mike or change its relation to said side wind gusts (if this is even possible)?

I recall that the mics had to pointed a particular direction to work best. I'll double check that when we get back on the bike in an hour or so.

I will also try moving them away from the chin curtain.

Moved the mics closer to our mouths and farther from the chin curtains for the final leg home. Definitely made a difference.

Hi
If you have the SMH10D-11 you would have been supplied with 2 mic's one for
full face and one for open and modular type helmets, check the wind sock and if not there
get one, I stock them pack of 5ea $5.95, I have no idea why they pack 5 in a bag not 4 or 6
but 5 ??? if using the type mic that velcros to the front of the chin gard, check and see if you
have it mounted by/on or next to the air vent

There is a fin on one side of the mic, and that should be pointed away from your mouth. Check to see if your software is updated, go to the Sena website to upload the latest software. There is a noise cancelling option too if I recall.

check the wind sock and if not there
:plus1:
And a few other things...get the mic oriented right and close to your lips with the foam almost touching. Connect to the website and make sure noise cancelling is on. Another thing is to check on the web connect is the sensitivity of the mic. I can recall but I think its a number 1-10.

We had the same issue when we first started using the Sena's. Somewhere I found the trick of cutting off the finger from a old pair of riding gloves, punching a 1/8 hole in it, and placing it over the foam sock. This helped out more than anything else.

I just pulled the foam cover off the mic and discovered that the mic cap is not installed.
I'll install these and see if they make a difference.
