WalMart has their YTZ14S Mighty Max batteries for $39.99 and the gel version for $42.99. Anybody got any feedback on them? Budget is a little tight right now, so not looking for a Yuasa recommendation. Thanks!

Get the gel version. Keep it on a battery tender when you park it after a ride and it may last considerably longer than two years.

The OEM recommendation for CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) for the ST1300 is 240 and both batteries you are looking at are CCA230 so, yea, two years max even with a battery tender. That being said, years ago I installed this same battery in my VFR (CCA 210 vs 230) and haven't had the slightest trouble.

I usually get 5-7 years a battery. I get them from Walmart or an auto parts store. I ride about every day so I don't use a tender. I did buy one from a dealer. I was on the road and it died at a gas station (no notice). Had it towed to a dealer (free) had it checked out and just needed a battery. $190 later, I was back on the road.
