Do you think there are people out there who would consider some kind of trade of a really good 2005 for a really good 2007? I have a 2007 with about 26,000 miles with everything I like about this wonderful machine except it is not RED.

I looked into painting the plastic but the tank became the challenge.
The 07 Silver is probably my favorite color. Interested in 04 Blue? lol

That is a nice bit of lateral thinking.
If you do go through with the change, you might consider testing the bike's top speed and quarter mile times before and after. This could lay to rest once and for all the belief that red bikes are faster......

Just an FYI - if you happen to do this and someone w/2008 or newer ST1300 wants to change out colors, that would include the tank.
The 2008 and newer tanks are not identical to the older tanks.
The fuel tube and hose that connect the upper and lower tanks is different - on the upper fuel tank side:
