Stiff throttle pull

I did a search but there's isn't a whole lot of info. I have a 2010 1300 that sat for quite a while, I lubed the cables from within the housing and it had no effect. It doesn't seem to pull very smoothly at all and very stiff, the other thread mentions replacing the pull cable but I'm trying to understand if and why that would help.

Is there a throttle spring you can unwind like the FJR?

Thanks

Also while you're there, check the path of the cables, you might have one (or both) binding due to a too tight of a bend on them.

Check the metal loop the cables are routed through on the side of the steering stem to make sure they are routed correctly.
Also, do you have risers on your bike? I have seen several different types of risers that will cause the cables to bind when routed as they suggest to use their product.

most likely there's broken wires in the cable.. if, after both ends are freed, a lil push /pull on the cable.. if it's still hard in one direction, replacement is in order the .....cable, outer shield, or both
