Do you or have you herd of a group called "The Risky Riders" from over Minnesota way?
Nope. I was big into racing CRA, CCS, WERA and AMA about 20 years ago and was doing a lot of local rides and events back then but didn't run across the Risky Riders.
I still ride every day but getting a real job and putting in the family time for my now 13 and 15 year old kids has pulled me out of the social biking community. Looking to get back into things now that my kids can come along as passengers and soon to be street riders. Maybe I'll run across them somewhere. Got some stories to share offline so we aren't hijacking the thread?

Later,
Kent Larson in Minnesota

Nope, you're still in the top 10. Although moving from 6° to 5°, you still remain 6th.

Paul, might want to change the spelling for #2. Should be Mudduc. Not sure if Kent would be offended of not.

Jeff
Good catch Jeff, thanks. Corrected to 'mudduc'.

whoa nippy one this morning. Our arctic blast is about over so had to get up and out early to catch a below zero reading. Might be the last one this year (I hope lol)

Yeah, SoCal is pretty much out of the cold race (were we really ever in this year?).

Our Winter has been pretty mild (I think I saw 34F or 36F at some point).

:rofl1:

We got a wintry mix today which means freezing rain, slick as snot out there, so no riding today, but tomorrow its supposed to be mid 40s, mid 50s Wed, and 60 Thursday... Then back in the deep freeze next Monday.

Was FINALLY able to ride to work this morning. Snow/ice was finally gone from the pavement. Temp was only 32*F at the home thermometer but the bike showed 36*F over the road (was low 40s F yesterday). Pavement was looking wet but nothing frozen anywhere that I could tell. From experience I know any moisture on the road was/is just what leaches up from what is in the concrete (what most of our road pavement is). Obviously I don't get crazy on the road in these conditions since I never know if I'll hit a pocket of colder air or road surface. So I ride even more conservatively than I normally do
Surprising in a way that other cagers seem to give me more space in these conditions than they normally would, and way more space than they give each other. I can take that, as long as they don't end up in a pin-ball effect when they do bounce off each other! That's one reason why "they" are called BDC.

Was good to be on the bike again. Expecting mid 40s F temps this afternoon. Then back down below zero F next early next week. I hope the pavement is clear then.

I got in a 21° ride this morning. Not my coldest, but still plenty cold enough for me.

I saw 14° on my ride in this morning, although it might be a little colder tomorrow morning. Warms up after that.

Lots of cold temps again in much of the USA... for you more northern folk... is there too much white stuff on the ground to ride?

Don't know about up north, but we've got about 2 inches of the white stuff over a layer of ice today - not exactly riding conditions!
The snow is nothing, but when you put ice on the hills it do make things quite interesting for getting around.
So I left the girls in the garage and took the quadracycle to work. ;-)

well up here in "southern" Ohio, we have 6" of the white stuff over ice. The only thing I've been riding for days is the 4 wheeler with a snow blade. Falling behind on mileage tracker lol. Temps have been back in single digits but nothing below zero since a couple weeks when we got the 2 below.

We got a bit of snow on Sunday night, just enough to make the roads slick Monday. Today, just cold, roads clear.

Saw 0° a few times pop up on the thermometer I had clipped to the handlebars, 3° when I was in the middle of the concrete jungle and exhaust from cars on the highway riding across downtown. But 1° seemed to be the prevailing temperature the majority of the time.

Funny listening to the radio... announcers warning everybody about the wind-chill.
Yeah, you think that 15 mph wind is cold, try some bare skin at 80mph. ;) Even the not bare skin can feel the cold.
