Hi guys, some time ago I changed the oil in the forks using 10w in both as per a thread suggested but since, I found it very harsh on small bumps which jars the handlebars, dam annoying. I wish to replace the leg that supposed to hold the 7w but can't remember which one it is left or right. Maybe its the left side that holds the 7w. Please advise me thanks

they came from the factory with the same oil in both, which is Honda SS-7, but that is 5w not 7w. The fork with the damper rod is right on non-ABS models, and left on ABS models, so left/right isn't meaningful without the model info.

edit: oops, somehow got them backwards the first time, too early in the morning I guess, so I fixed my error here. Bush has the correct orientation in his post.

Hmmmm . . . on both my '95 and '96 standard models (non ABS), the right fork contains the damper rod. I put synthetic fork oil in both, with 10W-15W in the LEFT fork and 7W (Motul) in the RIGHT fork. This would be opposite if it were an ABS bike.

I just got some straight rate fork springs from Traxxion Dynamics (which I haven't put in yet), and they recommended 7 wt in both forks. I have a 2001 non ABS.

Each fork is built differently and move the oil through their orifices differently, which is why a suspension specialist recommended to me to use different weights in each. Works fine for me and with OEM springs too.
