Yesterday, January 5th, 2018, Helen “Grandma” Sharp passed away. She was 98 years young. She was my wife Annette’s maternal grandmother. Quite a few of you have had the pleasure of meeting Grandma, either at OH-STOC or the Moonshine Lunch Run. Maybe you enjoyed some of her homemade pie, played a hand of euchre with her, or discussed Cincinnati Reds baseball. She always looked forward to “her boys” on the motorcycles coming to share some good times with her!

We shared our home with her for most of the last 12 years, and she taught us so much. She loved to travel and we often took her on trips. We made it a point to include her in as much as we could, including my motorcycle adventures.

She moved back to her home in 2016, with lots of family visiting and helping with her care. On December 17th, we had her annual Christmas party. At first she wasn't going to get out of bed to go but we persuaded her to do so. 76 out of the 109 family members were there. Those are her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. There were 5 generations there. When we got her back to her house and settled in, Annette asked her if she had a good day. She said, "I did."

Annette spent some time with her yesterday afternoon, snuggled up with her and telling her stories. Grandma passed shortly after that time. She is at rest now…
Here are a few pictures of some of Grandma’s adventures:

I'm very sorry to hear this Pat.. but wow, what a great legacy she left behind... She was obviously proud and we should all be as lucky as to lead a long life with a large family by our sides.

Sorry to hear this news. Our prayers are with you and Annette. We will miss listening to her telling of her tales during her life when we are at OH-STOC.

Oh shoot Pat, what a shame, but I think she enjoyed herself when she was here. Was great to sit and talk to. Will be strange not to see her at OH-SToc anymore. My condolences to the family and please give Annette a sympathy hug for me.

I am sorry for your loss.

Helen obviously led a life that positively touched many people. I'm glad I got to meet her at OH-STOC several years ago.

Although I’m saddened to hear of her passing, I’m really glad she had you guys and you got to share her life. Sometimes a passing is less of a loss than a relief of a worry for someone deeply loved.

Sounds like you showed her how much she meant to you while she was here. We can all learn from that..

Thank you for sharing and all my best.

Annette and Pat you have my sympathy. She was a great lady. She had her own method to check the cobbler to let me know if it was done. I will miss her.

Annette, Breann and Pat,
Words can't describe the loss that has occurred with Grandma leaving us. I have lost a good friend and the best Euchre partner I ever had. The stories she would tell of her life were filled with love of family and life. I'm going to miss her dearly.
My best to you and your family at this time.
