Summer 2018 KY Trip - Looking for Suggestions

In the early stages of planning a route for a smokey mountain trip this summer (late July) and looking for suggestions for KY from some locals. My preliminary route has me coming into KY from the East out of VA, riding the back of the dragon before heading to KY, Will be headed north on 52 up to Louisa, taking 32 over to Sandy Hook then Bert T Combs Mountain Pkwy to get to the northern part of Daniel Boone National Forest. Riding the forest all the way down to TN.

My route through the forest is:
    1139 south to 1057 to 213 to 52 to 89 to 490 to 25 to 192 to 1193 to 90 to 700 to 679 to 1673 to 92 to 27

Are all these good paved roads? Are there certain "must ride" parts of the forest? Any help would be appreciated.

I have attached a map view for some clarity. Looking for fun curvy roads to ride. I have the Nada Tunnel in the route

I know lots of great routes thru that area and would be glad to email you some. 89 is a road you will enjoy. 421 is better than 25. 66 is great, 30 is great, 11 is good. Are you just passing thru or spending some time there?

I like the southeast Kentucky area a lot & ride there every year, usually in late September/early October.

KY-192 from I-75 west to Somerset is fantastic. Good pavement and little traffic.

A little further south, in an effort to attract motorcyclists, Whitley County is marketing a big loop they call the Copperhead Trail. It's a pretty fun ride. Almost zero traffic. Roads are just so-so though. Lots of rough pavement, & a fair amount gravel patches in the curves.

The Cumberland Gap Overlook is definitely worth a stop if you have time. So is Cumberland Falls State Park.

A great little campground in the middle of the forest is Sheltowee Camp, at the intersection of 192 & 1193.

Another ride in the area that's worth doing if you haven't before is the Devil's Triangle near Oak Ridge, TN. But just the top part, on TN-116. The parts on 330 and 62 can be skipped and you won't miss much.
And no trip to the area is complete without a visit to the KFC museum in Corbin!

Have a great trip. You will have a blast.

I added in The Cumberland Gap overlook and the top of the Devils triangle. Added less than 100 miles to the trip! Thanks for the great advise!

You're most welcome. Move that Kentucky tag & A-Z town while you're there, so I can play the games again next fall!
