caldercay, I heard Honda of Houston was closing, so they are still getting new bikes in.
Hmmmm. Interesting.

I remember that in recent months, their "used bike" section going from "a number of bikes to choose from" to zero. My knee jerk thought was, "are they selling off inventory because they're gonna close"?

I've not searched to confirm my thought on this, but it's sad if true. I've been shopping there since the late 90s when they were on Long Point. To me, they've been an "always only Honda" establishment with a great motocross influence.

If this is true, let's hope somehow, this fate is reversed.

Wow! It's almost like the Honda engineers took that into consideration.

Wow our ST sure does show its age against the new GL, thank goodness its still an awesome bike!
I would say you're right with the bikes side by side (since the GW has LED lighting and is more angular, etc.), but when an ST is sitting by itself, it still looks fairly contemporary (yup, maybe an 1100 does look a bit older vs the 1300, but I still get questions about them when I'm parked and people are pretty surprised when they hear how old they are).

Except that the tip over guards that stick out from the mufflers will catch the ground before the mufflers do. They covered the front and rear guards same as they did on the CTX engine guards up front. The new Wings guards are lower on the bike.
On the pre-production bikes at the Calgary show the muffler tip over guards were pretty flimsy and did not seem to offer much resistance, do the showroom bikes appear better in that respect?

But still seems a lot less lean angle on this wing before you tear into something......

If you were pushing on the plastic covers then it would seem to be more flimsy. It's the same as I have on my CTX. A plastic cover over a VERY sturdy steel bar. Same as I remember on the tip over covers of my ST1100... plastic cover was flimsy, steel bar was strong (tested and proven on my ST).

My CTX can lean more than previous models (since 1988 to now) of GW, the ST can lean more than my CTX. Just the way they've been. The 2018 GW/GWT (per catcher) can lean a bit more than previous models, maybe as much as my CTX. No surprises about not leaning as much as a ST. A skilled rider can still take it through the twisties as well or better than the average ST rider. (ps- that would not be me though).

Glad to hear that. My ‘04 ST came from the Bingle location (gone now) but I did pick up an NC700 from the West Rd. location (gone also). I have a F6B Wing now I picked up in Arizona but needs some warranty work done.

Wheelbase on the CTX1300 is 2.3 inches shorter than the GW and the ST1300 is 7.7 inches. Plus about 143 pounds heavier than the ST1300 and 100 lbs than the CTX1300. IMHO, either of the 1300's ((should)) handle better than the GW.

The new GL1800 uses a pretty wide profile rear tire (200/55-16) compared to the ST and previous wings, so as the bike leans over the rear will tend to pick up a little bit compared to a narrower tire. So it can achieve a better lean angle than it looks like it can.

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it... ;-)

And I can verify that the rear does pick up a bit in a lean. My CTX1300 has a 200/50 rear tire and I do notice the slight lift when leaning over.

BTW- the ST and CTX 1300s are the same weight.

Do you think a Stealer would let me trade in all my ST1300s & parts for a new GW? :rofl1:

Nah, I'll keep my fleet of ST1300s! :D
