But it is still JASO certified.
Here's a look at changes that have happened for Shell Rotella Diesel oils: CK-4 & FA-4 Oils

https://denlube.com/shell-rotella-ck4/

  • Also, Rotella T6 is certified for: 10w-30 JASO DH-2
  • Rotella T6, 10w-40 JASO MA, DH-2

JASO DH-2 is the certification for diesel engines only. JASO MA is the certification for 4 cycle motorcycle engines.

Like I said. Put a gallon of T6 5W40 and you are good to go. JASO MA & MA2 certified. I know, I know it's 5W40 instead of 10W but you gotta do what you gotta do. Here's the label.

Ok, I read one article that says to pull the plug wires and run the starter motor for 2 seconds to push out the last of the oil. . .sounds scary. . . .
Someone wrote in an earlier thread that he was surprised how much oil was trapped in the engine by webbing (cast in reinforcement). Oil was also to be found in the clutch. This means running the engine with the starter to squeeze out the last little bit of oil will do nothing to move oil trapped by the internal structure of the engine. It's not only a bad idea to spin the engine w/o oil, but doing so will not move any more of the old oil.

+1...
Rather select an engine oil with enhanced particle suspension, so not only less "crud" can deposit in nicks and corners, it'll also flush most of it out while draining...

Spun the motor several times for oil changes on my older Wings over years. No harm, no foul, totally different engine lay-out. Bout all you're doing is emptying out the oil pump. I think at a lot of you guys really get caught-up in over-thinking a lot of this motorcycling stuff.
